This was my second year going to Avoriaz with the Salomon Snowboards UK team for the Team trip and it was just as rad as last year! I took the train from Glasgow to Milton Keynes where I met up with James Fuller (the UK team manager), Sophie Addison, Dave the sticker man and Chris Coppin from Salomon Shoes. We then had to boost to Dover to try and catch our ferry and meet up with the rest of the crew. Somehow we made it there and met up with Sophie Nicholls, Tom Hunt, Andrew Cain and Stu Edwards. After the ferry and a long drive, we made it to the Riders Refuge Chalet in Morzine which we were staying in for the next few days. We arrived pretty early in the morning and met up with Andy Laird but sadly, due to broken lifts and weird buses, we couldn’t get up the mountain so we stayed down and got all our kit for the next day sorted.
Our first day riding was really sick with loads of snow about. We mostly chilled in the Stash Park all day exploring all the new features that had been put in since last year as well as jibbing on the piste and generally exploring the resort. We managed to get some pretty cool shots which I’m really stoked on so check out a small sample of them below.
The next day we met up with Mr Steve and Tosh Mitsu before heading up the mountain for another sick day. It started snowing so much so we set up a few spots in the Stash to get a few shots. Once we’d sorted them we went in search of some powder lines but it was all pretty tracked out so we just scouted out some spots to hit the next day.
It had dumped all night so the last day riding was the best! We weren’t worried about trying to get shots so we just rode around hitting features at the side of the piste which were so fun! I was super gutted that we had to come home as the next few days were meant to be blue bird with loads of snow around which would have been awesome! Instead we had to drive through the night to get our ferry before flying back up to Glasgow.
Now I’m back in Glasgow chilling with my family and enjoying the holidays! I’ve planned a trip to Austria in February which I’m really stoked on but right now I’m just going to enjoy Christmas and ride Bearsden/Braehead for a bit. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and I’ll get some more posts, shots and videos up early next year!
